You don't need to outrank Wikipedia. You need to appear when someone within driving distance searches "accountant near me" or "web design [your city]". That's local SEO, and it's the highest-return marketing most small businesses ignore.
Claim the profile that matters most
Your Google Business Profile is arguably more important than your website for local visibility. Claim it, verify it, and fill in every field: categories, hours, photos, services, service area. Businesses with complete profiles get dramatically more calls and direction requests than skeletal ones.
Consistency: the boring superpower
Google cross-references your name, address and phone number (NAP) everywhere they appear — your site, directories, social profiles. Inconsistencies ("Calle 5" here, "C/ Cinco" there, an old phone number in a forgotten directory) erode confidence in your data. Pick one canonical format and hunt down every variant.
Put your location in your content — naturally
Your website should say where you are and whom you serve, in real sentences: service pages that mention your city and region, a contact page with an embedded map, and if you serve several areas, a page per area with genuinely different content. What doesn't work: stuffing city names into invisible text. Google got wise to that a decade ago.
Reviews are ranking fuel
Volume, recency and your responses all factor in. Build a habit: after every completed job, send the review link. Respond to every review, including the bad ones — a calm, helpful reply to criticism impresses future customers more than ten five-star ratings.
The technical base still applies
Local SEO sits on top of normal SEO: fast mobile pages, HTTPS, proper titles and descriptions, and structured data telling Google you're a local business. If the foundation is broken, local signals can't save it.
What results look like
Local SEO compounds over months, not days. Realistic expectations: measurable movement in 2–3 months, meaningful lead flow in 6. It outlasts any ad campaign — rankings don't stop the moment you stop paying.
We bake local SEO foundations into every site we build, and our Advanced SEO Setup goes deeper: keyword mapping, structured data and a review strategy. Ask us where your business currently shows up — the audit is quick.
